Klamath River 8-22-10

The weekend started a little slow for us on Saturday.  We had to work to get our fish, but we did get a few nice ones.  Sunday we had a 360 degree turn around.  We got some great action shots. I am going home for 3 days and will be back on the water late Wendesday.

Klamath River 8-20-10

I had the pleasure of fishing with Joe Sr., Jr. and Nick today.  Joe Sr. was 77 and wanted to catch a salmon.  With a litlle help from son Joe Jr, his wish was granted.

Klamath River 8-18-10

The steelhead action on the river has been good.  The steelhead are just blasting out of the wtaer....Nothing better!!!!We are still getting a chance for a few salmon.  The estuary is giving up a few nice salmon.  The estuary will heat up over the next 10 days.  Everything is in place for a great season on both rivers......Fish On!!!

Klamath River 8-15-10

We had a nice week with good tides and looking for a big push of fish.  The fish are still coming, slowly but shirley.  We finally made it to the estuary.  We are getting about 6 plus fish a day with a mix of Jack's and steelhead.  The 1/2 pounders are starting to show in Blake's.  Check out William's first salmon....I wish it was mine......

Klamath River 8-9-10

We had a good couple of days.  Sunday we hooked 5 landing 2 salmon and releasing 2 wild steelhead.  Monday we hooked 14,  landing 5 salmon (1 adult and 4 jacks) and 4 steelhead.  Tuesday we landed 2 steelhead and one nice 14 lbs salmon.  The season is just going to get better.

Klamath River 8-4-10

The Klamath is off to a great start.  I will just let the picture do the talking.

Klamath River 7-23-10

The Klamath has been a dream this week.  The river is starting to ramp up for another big season.  This week we landed 25 salmon and 16 steelhead.  Our largest salmon was 14lbs and steelhead was 11lbs.  The steelhead were all wild fish.  The most boats we saw on the river was 3 boats.  Check out the pictures.  Please don't wait to book your dates.  I have camp all set up at Kamp Klamath and they have plenty of room for your camping needs.

Klamath River 7-3-10

Springer's are still going on the Klamath.  I got a fish with my two favorite guys, my boys.  It did not take much for my boys to get up at 3:50 am to go fishing.  The boat pressure has been light.  We got a great place up river and waited for the fish.  We only got a chance at one and Jordan did not miss.  Happy 4th........

Klamath River 6-18-10

Springer's fishing was a little tough today.  We had a chance at one fish and Adam made it count.  The boat pressure was heavy today.  When we pulled out at 3:30pm only 10 salmon were counted out of 39 boats.  The fish are just beatiful and taste just as good.  Check out Adam smile.

Klamath River 6-17-10

Springer's are coming in!!!!!!!  We had a good first week on the Klamath.  We caught fish everyday, landing them in another story.  I fished with friend and long time guide Frank Townley.  Here are a few nice pictures.  I have open space.  These fissh are the best eating fish there is.  Fish On!!!

Sacramento River / Klamath River 6-5-10

Striper fishing is still good.  The water is high, but the fish are still moving around.   Anna and Alden covered alot of water to finally find the fish.  The best thing about it, there was no one on the river.  When we launch at Ward's on Wednesday, another boat just pulled out with a 20lbs+ male he just caught.  We knew today was going to be a good day.  We found some nice fish on the bends and in the slow water.  I am going to try the Klamath Monday.....

Sacramento River / Klamath River 6-5-10

We are back to striper fishing this week.  The Klamath went from 18,000 cfs to 58,000 cfs with the last storms.  I will he heading back to the Klamath  next week.  The Trinity will start fishing this next week with the water leveling off at 2,000 cfs.  Salmon time already........

Sacramento River 5-29-10

Striper fishing has been great this week again.  It is hard to leave fish to find more.  I am heading over to the Klamath to start springer fishing Friday.  The last 2 days we caught 20+ fish a day.  It took at little work to find keepers, but the action had been great.  The water is coming up and it will take a fews days and the striper action will heat up again.  The fish are new fish and really clean.  More video will be up soon.  Salmon here we come.......

Sacramento River 5-14-10

Striper fishing has been great this week.  The weather has been very nice and not too hot.  On Thursday we had our limits by 8:00 am.  Today, we had to work a little and find the fish.  The stripers had moved down about a mile.  Our first pass after finding them was a triple.  We only keep males under 10lbs on our trips.  The females must all be released to protect the spawn.

Sacramento River 5-7-10

Striper fishing is what is going on....Big Time.  The Sacramento River is clear, the temp looks great.  The stripers are up river ready to do their thing.  We are finding nice limits of stripers.  The boats are averaging 10 to 30+ fish a day.  All females are released after a nice picture.  We are drifting live minnows.  It is great fun to watch the minnow swim fast before getting eaten.  Action will stay good thru May.

Klamath River 4-24-10

I just wanted to thank the Yurok Tribe for hosting a workshop about the tribe fisheries.  This was the first time any meeting like this has happened.  Dave and Troy did a great job covering all major points.  Thank you for giving everyone a chance to ask ANY questions and the time to make sure the question was answered.  I understand that you did not have to do that.   I applaud the tribe and it shows great class.   Funny, we put all types of people in one room and talk about what the river means to them. We find out that no matter what age, color, or race we all are looking to protect the river, respecting each other and ways of life.  The first step in communication has started,   I hope this will help all groups work together in the future. I look forward to the next meeting.  Only with communication we all can work together.  The tribe prepared a fantastic lunch. Thank you again, Steve

Sacramento Rivers

We are changing gears this week.  The drift boat is home in the garage and the jet boat is tuned up and ready to go.  I will start striper fishing Wednesday and the news I have heard is all good.  I hope to have some new pictures up this week.  I am ready to go back to work.  The salmon run looks big again.  I have just a few dates left on the Klamath..

Trinity River 3-14-10

We are still seeing wild steelhead moving in the Trinity.  Here are some pictures and our trip up north to the Smith and  Chetco.  I will be getting the jet boat ready for Striper and Springers.  We are going to another big year on the Klamath.  We are booking up fast, please don't wait.!!!!!  Fish On!!!!

Trinity River 2-16-10

We are still seeing wild fish moving into the system.  Cindy Tuttle of West Sacramento caught her first steelhead.  Cindy did a great job listening and fought it like a pro.  We had to tell Cindy that bananas were not allowed on guide boats.  After Cindy ate the banana, John caught his fish.  John Bonilla of Sacramento released a nice 12 wild male.  All our action came on back trolling small plugs.  The river is clear and in great shape.

 Trinity River 2-10-10

We have been working hard for our fish lately.  0 to 3 fish per day.  The rain blew the river out on Friday.  We are back to clear today.  I have been seeing a few wild steelhead and more are on their way.  We are going to get weather in tonight.  We will fish well into March this year.

Trinity River 1-29-10

We made it home safe from all the shows.  I said just wait until the rains come......The rain poured  and the fish pushed up.  I landed my largest steelhead of on the season today.  It was a wild buck and came in at 13lbs.  A quick picture and measurements, this buck is going to make some big kids soon.  The video is up above. The rains are coming in tonight, but the river can handle it.  I have a few dates open in Feb.  Fish On!!!!

Trinity River 1-17-10

We made it home and back to work on the Trinity.  The rain has been coming down just lightly.  I know more is coming and the river and lakes need it.  I will be right back in Sacramento on Thursday.  The fishing is going to be good with all the rain coming.  Here is Amy's nice fish.  I will see everyone in Sacramento.  My booth space had changed.  See ya there.  Steve

Trinity River 1-10-10

We have had some rain this week.  Sean and John were ready for any weather.  We caught some nice steelhead this weekend.  I am fishing just a few more days and then I am off to the I.S.E show.  Check out John's steelhead video above.  I still have room to fish in late Jan and Feb. to catch these beautiful fish.

Trinity River 1-1-10

Happy New Year !!!!!!!!!!!!  Well 2010 is here and we are finding steelhead.  All the fish have been hatchery fish but I know the wild fish are moving and will be here soon.  I still have great dates for January so give us a call or send an email to book your trip.
