Trinity Salmon & Steelhead

Trinity, Rivers  11-18-11

I have put my salmon rods away to just target steelhead.  The action has been tough at times with the low clear conditions.  We have landed some really nice steelhead so far.  It was nice to see the snow coming down last night.  We had a lot of salmon on beds this season and the steelhead have been eating good.  The weather will bring the river up and improve our steelhead season.  Here are happy clients.

I am going to let the cat out of the bag now.  I have had very little pressure on the drift.  Spaf landed a 22 and 30lbs salmon on Monday. We have a great 3 weeks back on the Trinity.  I will just let the picture tell the story.  A big storm is needed and the fishing will only get better.

Klamath ,Trinity, Rivers  10-7-11

I am at home and sleeping in my own bed.......I was ready to change gears and get back behind the oars.  We finished up the Klamath season with some big fish.  We landed and released a salmon at 48lbs.  This was the largest fish I have landed with 12 lbs test and 10 floro leader.  Nick was the young man to landed it.  Here are more pictures.  I promise to update pictures.  I will have a new Video page started next week.  We caught the big fish and another by Jordan all on film.  I still have great dates for the Trinity.

Klamath  / Trinity Rivers  9-6-11

I had a great weekend fishing with my boys on Sunday and Monday.  The boys got to fight a lot of fish both days.  The week was very nice with lot a fresh salmon in the system.  The fish were all 3 to 12lbs, but full of piss and vinegar.  The bigger fish are coming in and we are all ready.  Here is a few pictures.  We will start fishing the Rogue next year.  I had a day off and jumped over to the Rogue to catch this big 25 lbs female.

Klamath  / Trinity Rivers  8-28-11

We got a nice big push of fish this week.  I just uploaded new video and have more to add.  We landed a triple and have it on video.  It is not the prettiest way to do it, but we did.  The size of the salmon are increasing with each day.  The steelhead are looking very strong and a push of water is coming from the Trinity.  The water is going to cool and the fish are going to move!!!!!!  More to come

Klamath  / Trinity Rivers  8-24-11

We have having a great time on the Klamath.  I am sorry for the lack of reports, we were booked solid.  The pressure on the river has been very light and that's how we kept it.  The steelhead and salmon has been light outs.  I have landed 2 of the largest steelhead on the Klamath so far.  We are seeeing the larger salmon start moving into the system.  Here are the photos.  I still have some open dates.  Fish ON!!!!!

Klamath  / Trinity Rivers  7-28-11

We are changing gears on the Klamath this week.  We started drifting roe in the slots and fast water for Jacks and steelhead.  We are looking at a very good season with the river in great shape.  The Trinity will get this blast of Jack's and steelhead later this week.  Please don't wait for the last minute for dates.  Here are Pam and Bill with both a hatchery steelhead and a 18 King.  This is a great time to catch both steelhead and salmon!!!!!  Fish On!!!

Klamath  / Trinity Rivers  7-15-11

We are still catching some nice springers on the Klamath.  We are starting to see "Jacks" and steelhead in the system.  The river has dropped a good 2 feet this week alone.  I am gearing up the big boat to start side drifting and still anchor for our fish.  The Trinity is look good with more fish pushing up the river.  It look like a very busy season, please book your date early.  Fish On!!!

Klamath / Trinity Rivers  6-20-11

We mixed it up the last few days, fishing later in the day.  We cooked dinner out on the water...a little fishing and good results.  I had my youngest son Jordan with me.  I have been trying to teach him patience about springer fishing.  It took a good week, but he got the last laugh landing a 26, 18, 14, 8lbs springer.  Russ landed the largest so far at 28lbs.  Started to see some jacks and steelhead this week.  The river flows are still a little high, but looking better everyday.

Klamath / Trinity Rivers  6-10-11

We had a good week on the Klamath.  Wyatt landed the largest springer so far this early season at 26lbs.  Wyatt is just 14 and this a treat form his Grandmother Wendy.  The days sometimes are long waiting for the take down.  I am working on the video.  We had a fish this week try to jump up the swim deck.  We got all on video.  Check out the pictures, this is just the start....Don't wait too long!!!

Klamath / Trinity Rivers  6-3-11

Springer season is off to a good start.  The water is high, but there are a few places to find them.  I lost our first springer on the Klamath on Wednesday.  The fish was well over 30lbs.  How do I know???? Well after 8 jump and taking 130 ft of line on his first run, I knew we had a fight.  Everytime the fish jumped, I knew with barbsless hooks, we were in trouble and the fish was winning.  We did end up lossing the fish...........What a rush!!!!  Check out Bob Hunts first Klamath springer and our group shot at Kamp Klamath.  We still have open dates and more fish to come.

Klamath / Trinity Rivers  5-26-11

Springer salmon are calling.....I have camp all set up at Kamp Klamath again this season.  I will start this weekend scouting and have clients starting soon.  I can tell you this is the best eating salmon you can find,  I just finished a piece for dinner.  Please email or give me a call to book at trip.  The browns on the Trinity have been good.  The springer will be up there very soon.  I hope to have some new pictures and video up soon.  Looking for a great place to stay on the Klamath.....Check out Kamp Klamath  707  482 -0227.  Salmon dinner every Saturday night with great music from Douglas

Sacramento/ Feather Rivers 5-2-11

Striper season is going strong and easy limits are being taken.  The large females are starting to show up on the Feather and lower Sacramento.  I will have another boat fishing stripers, so its not too late.  I am moving camp to the coast for start looking for springers.  June 1st will be official started date on the Klamath.  I have plenty of room and dates.   Check out my springer from last week with Bill and Ron.  The springers are the best tasting.

Sacramento/ Feather Rivers 4-18-11

Striper season on the Feather is in full swing.  We landed over 30+ stripers each day over the weekend.  Sunday the fish moved down river about 6 miles and it took some time to find them.  When we found them, we hooked 3 triples and then found Marshall powerline heaven.  We must of made 20 passes through this one drift and hooked at least one fish near these lines......Once you find the stripers, it is game time.  The Sacramento is starting to fish and will be kicking out some great numbers this week.  Take your kids fishing....Just check out the pictures.

Sacramento/ Feather Rivers 4-5-11

Striper fishing is heating up.  The high waters have moved the striper fishing onto the Feather river.  The water is coming down on the Sacramento and will fish late next week.  I will fishing stripers April 16- May 16th.  I jumped on to frend Frank Townley boat.  We landed 13 with 5 nice keepers to 8lbs.  I still have open dates for striper.  Fish On!!!!

Trinity Rivers 3-19-11

Trinity steelhead has almost come to an end.  The smolts have been released this week.  The big storms have come in to help push the down runners and smolts to the ocean.  I am cleaning gear and rigging the big boat for stripers.  We are going to have a full season of salmon and steelhead for next year on the Klamath and Trinity rivers.  Please make sure you have your dates. Thank you for another steelhead season on the Trinity.

Trinity Rivers 3-6-11
